“Richard White of Good Green Neighbors, a small landscaping company of six workers that focuses on homes in inner Southeast Portland, spent $27,000 this year on four electric blowers. This includes four batteries for each blower, at a cost of $1,300 per battery – meaning more than $20,000 spent on the batteries alone. But he’s happy he made the change, White said, because he’s been using electric lawn mowers, trimmers and chainsaws for years, making for a healthier planet and beneficial work environment for him and his co-workers. Electric blowers have gotten a lot better for the small lots he works on, he said, and they appeal to sustainably minded Portlanders.”
